Environmental Responsibility and Energy Ratings
Recognising
our Environmental Responsibility Together
Together acknowledge our responsibility to the environment and we believe that energy ratings are essential in helping you to make an informed decision when purchasing new windows and doors.
So what are Energy Ratings?
If you are considering the replacement of your windows and doors then you will probably have been inundated with information and instructions on how you, the consumer should take more responsibility in choosing the most energy efficient products for your home.
In the past you may have encountered energy ratings when purchasing other household products such as washing machines, freezers, refrigerators and light bulbs.
The Government are committed to reduce the levels of carbon dioxide emissions by 2010.
They have put controls in place to reduce the energy loss of domestic dwellings by raising the thermal performance of all new houses.
These controls also apply to existing housing stock as and when any works are carried out.
Therefore replacement windows are now energy rated which will keep your heating bills down and help reduce harmful carbon dioxide emissions.
How
is the energy efficiency of windows measured?
Simulation tests were carried out using Tricept profiles fitted with various sealed unit configurations in order to give the window an energy efficiency rating.
The Tricept 5 chambered window system along with low E glass comfortably achieved energy rating D - which is the required rating as inspected by Fensa in keeping with new building regulations Part L.
You
can rest assured that PVC-u products fitted in your home comply with current thermal performance requirements.
The Tricept system was also tested using more enhanced sealed unit options and achieved energy ratings A, B and C.
The illustration shown right represents a typical computer simulation test and indicates the thermal performance of Tricept.
The red glow shown on the internal face of the entire window area symbolises the amount of heat your new Tricept windows retain.
As a result, the inside of your property remains warmer thus being more energy efficient.
